Beginnings of a Wiki, feel free to improve

As it applies to drag racing, the groove is the pair tire tracks worn into the lanes of the drag strip. It is the area with the most traction because of the rubber laid down, and the most stable area to have your tires in. Racers stage their cars aiming for the groove, and try to stay in it all of the way down the track.
