Definition

A late B-Body, also known as the 'Forgotten B-Body', were Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler cars built on the B-Body platform from 1975 until the last of the B-Body platforms in 1979. In 1980, the Intermediate Cars size cars shrunk to a J-Body platform, which were more of less stretched F-Body (Compact Cars).

The Late B's were not very popular, as the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973 had pushed Americans into buying smaller cars with smaller engines from Japan. American cars with V-8 engines were not very fuel efficient.
