Background:
The Plymouth Satellite was a B-Body car produced from 1965 to 1974 in various body styles and trim levels. Satellite buyers could choose many options including Airtemp air conditioning, Magnum 500-style Road Wheels, and the Air Grabber hood scoop. The Satellite also came in different body styles including a two-door coupe, a four-door sedan, and station wagons. Sub-models included the Satellite Sebring, Satellite Custom, the Satellite Sebring-Plus, Satellite Brougham (for 1971), and the Satellite Regent.

The Satellite was built on Chrysler's mid-size, B-Body platform.
Engines
The 225 cubic inch Slant Six engine was the base engine for Satellites, Satellite Customs, and Satellite Sebrings. In 1971, it made a gross-rated 145 horsepower. In 1972, the engine made a net-rated 110 horsepower and from 1973 to 1974, the net-rated horsepower was 105. Popular options included two-barrel carbureted versions of both the 383 cubic inch and 400 cubic inch V-8s. From 1972 to 1974, a four-barrel carbureted version of the 400 was available for all Satellite variants.

There were 11,059 Satellite Sedans produced in 1971 along with 7,138 six-passenger Satellite Station Wagons, 46,807 Satellite Coupes (including Hardtop Coupes), 30,773 Satellite Custom Sedans, 5,045 six-passenger Satellite Custom Station Wagons, 3,865 nine-passenger Satellite Custom Station Wagons, 16,253 Satellite Sebring-Plus Hardtop Coupes, and 3,020 Satellite Brougham Sedans.
