As it applies to drag racing, it refers to a measurement of ET 1,000 feet down the drag strip on a 1/4 mile or 1,000' track. It it the measurement taken between the 1/8 mile (660') and 1/4 mile (1,320'). After the death of Scott Kalita at the Englishtown track, NHRA moved up the finish line from 1320' to 1000' for the Top Fuel classes.
