Beginnings of a Wiki, feel free to improve
As it applies to drag racing, a tech card is filled out with the car's particulars by the driver, and handed to the tech inspector, when the car is brought to tech inspection. Race cars must receive their safety inspection before they are allowed to make a pass down the drag strip.
If the car passes inspection, the tech card is forwarded to race control in the tower so the track management and PA announcer have the information on car and driver.
